If you are planning to use mosaic tiles, you have to stick these tiles with glue paper or other materials. These tiles are usually used as a covering material for the flooring and walls or other surface. There are two types of mosaic, divided by the character of the tile’s surface, which are polished surface and rough surface. Polished surface mosaic is suitable for wall covering while the rough surface is suitable for floor covering in order to avoid slip. The surface of this tile has the ability not to get damaged by any chemicals, oil, pressure and scratch.
Caution during Installation
Choosing mosaic tiles as your materials for your improvement project is a good idea. But of course there are things that you need to keep in mind. When installing these tiles, you have to make sure that the pieces of mosaic are firmly stuck to the surface; otherwise they will peel of the surface. When cleaning these tiles, you can use wet cotton to clean the mosaic without using any cleaning chemicals.
Installation process
First of all, the surface of the floor or wall should be well prepared in terms of slope and cleanliness. The surface must be flat and not be bent otherwise the tiles will not stick firmly to the surface. The next thing that you should do is to mix cement with sand in the right proportion and apply to the surface and slowly put the mosaic tile on the cement and leave it until the cement dried If in case you are using glue paper, then apply cement into the cavity between single tile and leave it for another 2-3 days before use. Actually the whole process of installation is not that complicated so if you want to make it on your own then you can always do it on your own.
If you happened visit construction materials and see mosaic tile that mock by the glue paper or nylon net, this is just a mock up model in order to show the pattern or design that you can create. Keep in mind that it is not the way that you can have that paper tile to actually apply to floor or wall surface.
Those mosaic tiles that are assembled and stick on the net is suitable for floor covering than using with wall, because nylon net has less ability to stick with the surface because the net has to carry the entire weight of the tiles.
