Talat meets with US ambassador in G. Cyprus

LEFKOSA (AA) – Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Talat came together with U.S. Ambassador in Greek Cypriot side Michael Klosson late on Wednesday.

Stating that he was pleased with resumption of negotiations, Talat said that they entered a difficult process and there were many things to do. He added that it seemed that they would reach success this time.

Talat said that they were pleased with efforts of the United States on the point that was reached and noted, "we hope that contributions will also continue at this process as there will be need for it."

Reiterating that they were determined for a solution to Cyprus issue, Talat said that they had to work hard and they would do their utmost to reach a fair agreement.

Klosson said that they were pleased with the process and sides’ sitting at the negotiation table with the goal of a fair and viable solution and stated that he hoped that negotiations would yield positive results.

Stating that they also hoped that a fair and viable solution that would be reached at the end of negotiations would be supported by the people with referendum which would be held in both sides, Klosson said that they would continue to support efforts and initiatives of U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan.
