Our resistance against Annan plan no more exists

LEFKOSA (AA) – Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said on Saturday that although the Annan plan could not be accepted and Turkey had supported this at a certain point, TRNC could no more resist against the plan when Turkey said “the plan could be negotiated.”

Noting that they never escaped from negotiation, Denktas said that they wanted to avoid from the result they would possibly face when the negotiation started.

Stressing that the Annan plan cannot be accepted, Denktas said of the imposition over the acceptance of the plan, “We haven’t run from the negotiation table. We have escaped from the result we would have been binded when the negotiation started and we could not accept it.”

We would whether say, “We are not going to New York” and open the doors to the people who would accept the Annan plan without negotiation, or ask Turkey, “Are we going to support the sine quo non conditions for TRNC till the end?” When the mother land positively answered us, we went to New York."
