ODP group protests sending soldiers to Iraq

The group which convened in front of Kızılay Post Office in the afternoon shouted slogans saying that "We won’t be soldiers of the U.S." "Motion is Adopted, Parliament should go into the army."

ODP’s Ankara head Nilgun Aklar said that taking an important decision without resorting to the public opinion’s will was wrong.

Claiming that the government was leading the country into a blind alley, Aklar said that "no country can welcome the aides of the occupation forces with flowers. Turkish soldiers will be regarded as U.S. soldiers in Iraq. The dead bodies of our soldiers will return to Turkey."

Aklar later posted the identification tag written "Recep Tayyip Erdogan U.S. 2003" on it to Prime Minister Erdogan.

The group later dispersed.
