Efforts for Second Border Crossing into Iraq

Noting that discussions on the matter have been on and off, Tuzmen said, "Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade, and Customs Undersecretary officials together with other related authorities are working on it."

Asked whether the second border crossing is for by-passing the Kurdish region in Northern Iraq, Tuzmen replied: "No, what we are trying to do is open Turkey’s gates, our points of entry are very important for foreign trade. We aim at relieving pressure on Turkish foreign trade and other countries’ contribution to the trade volume by using these gates."
