Lindh Shared Same Fate with Palme
Anna Lindh, the Foreign Minister of Sweden, who was stabbed in a shopping mall on Wednesday in Stockholm, died at hospital on Thursday. Lindh died despite she was operated twice in Karolinska Hospital, because of internal hemorrhage, which could not be stopped due to the wounds on stomach and liver. The attacker is being sought both in Sweden and in the neighboring countries.
The death of Lindh came ahead of Sunday’s referendum on adopting Euro, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday. The referendum will reportedly not be cancelled. Lindh was foreign minister of the Social Democrat Party government since 1998. She was campaigning for Sunday’s referendum, in favor of Euro. Lindh was seen as the successor of Prime Minister Goran Persson.
