Iraqi State Bank pays salary firstly without US protection
The principle of Al-Rafideyn State Bank Vahit Abu Naim said, "The banknotes has been taking from Rafideyn Central Office in Kerrade district. We wanted to pay the salaries of the generals and to be released from this responsibility as soon as possible. In the salary payment, only Iraqi policmen are accompanying us and so far we did not face any trouble."
The generals who could get salary after 4 months break lauded the Baath Party’s administarion and complained that looting and theft rose up to high levels since Saddam ousted, "There are many people who were shot dead at the middle of the street. No one feels himself in a secure atmosphere."
Police chief in the bank told to IHA correspondent, "For months, we had not get payment. But we resumed the work a week ago but, until now, we weren’t salaried. Despite all negative conditions, we have been exerting efforts to help the officials of the bank and Iraqi people."
