Foreign tourist arrivals to Turkey soar in Feb
ANKARA (Turkey), March 23 (SeeNews) – Foreign tourist arrivals to Turkey jumped to 1.54 million in February, compared to 537,976 recorded in the same month of last year, official figures showed.
Istanbul was Turkey’s top tourist destination in February, attracting 62.05% of international visitors, or 956,482 people, the tourism ministry said in a monthly data release.
Edirne followed with 181,665 visitors, or 11.79% of the total number, while Antalya came in third, attracting 131,960 international visitors, or 8.56% of all foreign tourist arrivals.
In the January-February period, Turkey’s top feeder markets were Russia, where 8.73% of all foreign tourist visits originated, Bulgaria with 8.46%, and Germany, with 8.19%.
