"We accept DHKP-C and PKK/KADEK as terrorist org."

International Defense Industry Aerospace and Maritime Fair (IDEF) Symposium 2003 organized by cooperation of National Defense Ministry and the Foundation for Strengthening Turkish Armed Forces started at Ankara’s Bilkent Hotel.

State Minister Kursad Tuzmen also attended the symposium.

Delivering a speech in the symposium, Ingram said that Turkey and Britain had a long term relation in defense field and stated that close contact between the two countries was carried on to improve this relation.

Stating that there had been a decrease in clashes between states recently, Ingram said that terrorist and criminal threats increased.

Ingram said that Turkey and Britain had very important experiences on terrorism and stated that Britain accepted DHKP-C and PKK/KADEK as terrorist organizations. Ingram said that fight against terrorism reached success when it was carried out by allies and coalitions and added that cooperation between the two countries was very important in that field.

Noting that NATO had important missions in crises in several places in the world, Ingram said that it would be more effective in management of crises in the future. Ingram added that Britain also wanted to contribute to that structure.

Ingram said that factors which threatened countries highlighted the structure of armed forces and added that deployment of forces and development of capacity to act gained importance.
