Valuable Iraq manuscripts looted
The Ministry of Culture and General Directorate of the Libraries and Publications carried out research and revealed that there were 53,022 manuscripts in 41 libraries in Baghdad, 1,279 being Turkish.
The richest library in Baghdad with its manuscripts was the "Saddam Hand Manuscripts Library".
The libraries in Basra, Dohuk, al Divaniye, al Hillah, Arbil, Nasiriyah, Samarrah, Karbala, Kirkuk, Mosul, Najaf, Sulaymaniyah, al Samawah, Tikrit, al Zubayr all possessed valuable manuscripts.
