U.S. Chamber’s U.S.-Türkiye Business Council Applauds First Turkish Startup IPO on New York Stock Exchange

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Türkiye Business Council today took part in ringing the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) opening bell with Marti Technologies (“Marti”) to celebrate their public listing on the exchange.

Marti, a leading mobility company, is the first Turkish company to exclusively debut on the NYSE. This listing marks a significant milestone in U.S.-Turkish commercial relations, which has grown its bilateral trade volume by over 70 percent since 2019. Marti has worked with U.S. technology companies to expand its customer base and U.S. investors to fund its expansion plans.

“U.S. technology companies and investors are eager to support the continued growth of innovative startups in Türkiye to connect with domestic and international customers. The expanding trade relationship between the United States and Türkiye is becoming increasingly diversified with growing U.S. awareness about the country’s exciting high-tech ecosystem and entrepreneurial culture,” said Jennifer Miel, Executive Director, U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s U.S.-Türkiye Business Council.

“Becoming a public company is just one step in our overall journey of transforming Marti into a mobility super app that offers ride hailing and shared electric two-wheel vehicles for Turkey. We are also proud to pave the way for other Turkish startups with U.S. investors,” said Oguz Alper Oktem, Founder and CEO of Marti.

The U.S.-Türkiye Business Council will continue to be a leader in facilitating these milestones and an active voice for U.S.- Türkiye investment. The Council will be leading a business delegation to Ankara and Istanbul in October 2023 to further the development of trade and investment ties.
