Turkish PM Erdogan to visit Asian quake region

Speaking while on a trip to the Black Sea city of Rize Thursday, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he would probably make the journey to the Indian Ocean region late in January.
“I deem it a duty to meet the presidents and prime ministers of all the countries in the region and visit the affected areas,” Erdogan said. “I believe I could go at the end of the month.”
Turkey has already donated more than $1.0 million in aid to assist in relief work, with the Turkish public nearly matching this. Turkish search and rescue teams have also been working in the region.
