Turkey’s Karsan wins 293 mln lei (59 mln euro) electric buses tender in Romania


BUCHAREST (Romania), December 19 (SeeNews) – Turkish vehicle manufacturer Karsan said on Monday that it has won a 293 million lei ($63 million/ 59 million euro) tender to deliver a hundred electric buses to the Romanian municipality of Bucharest.

As part of the deal, Karsan will also supply materials for the electric buses’ six-year maintenance, garage administration and necessary charging stations, the company said in a statement to Turkey’s Public Disclosure Platform, KAP.

Deliveries are expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2023.

The contract will be signed after the completion of procedures and processes stipulated in the relevant legislation.

Established in 1966, Karsan is based in Turkey’s Bursa province.

In April, the company announced it hast has signed a contract to deliver 16 electric buses in Focsani, eastern Romania.
