Turkey’s iron ore imports decrease 26.8 percent in January-March


In March this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports totaled 643,055 mt, increasing by 62.6 percent compared to February and down 31.9 percent as compared to the same month of 2022, according to the statistics provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports decreased by 30.1 percent to $78.61 million year on year, while up 70.5 percent as compared to February.

In January-March this year, Turkey’s iron ore imports amounted to 1.84 million mt, down 26.8 percent, while the value of these imports decreased by 30.1 percent to $215.35 million, both compared to same period of 2022.

In the given month, Turkey’s iron ore imports from Brazil stood at 1.41 million mt, up 70.2 percent year on year. Brazil was followed by Sweden which supplied 330,057 mt, while Turkey’s iron ore imports from Russia in the given month amounted to 69,226 mt.
