Turkey’s economic confidence worsens in March – stats office


ANKARA (Turkey), April 5 (SeeNews) – Turkey’s economic confidence index fell to 95.7 points in March, a 2.5% drop compared to the previous month, the country’s statistical office said.

The decline in the index stemmed from decreases in the manufacturing industry, services, retail trade and construction confidence indices, TurkStat said in a statement last week.

The services confidence index decreased the most month-on-month – by 6.2% to 111.3 points, followed by the retail trade confidence index which fell by 3.1% to 116.0 points.

The manufacturing sector confidence index went down 1.6% to 108.2 points. The construction confidence index lost 2.0% to 81.0 points.

The consumer confidence index was the only gainer in March, closing up by 1.9% to 72.5 points, according to TurkStat.
