Turkey outlines satellite plans

Türksat is planning to launch its Türksat 6A satellite in the second quarter of 2023.

According to Hürriyet, quoting the country’s transport minister Adil Karaismailoglu, once in orbit Turkey will have 10 satellites in space. Karaismailoglu added that Türksat 6A is a domestically produced satellite, developed by Turkish engineers and Türksat.

Türksat 5A was launched at the start of 2021, and Türksat 5B toward the end of last year. The former currently offers services, particularly TV broadcasting, in an area covering 30% of the world, while the latter provides internet and communication services otherwise inaccessible areas.

Türksat 6A will be co-located at 42 degrees East with the satellites Türksat 3A, Türksat 4A and Türksat 5B.

Meanwhile, Türksat 5B will go into serviced shortly.
