Turkey, Iran to boost trade ties

In a meeting with Mohammad-Ali Sobhanollahi, governor general of Iran’s East Azarbaijan region, Coskun said although Iran and Turkey are two separate countries, their nations have always supported each other during the years. He stressed the importance of technology based on regional powers to enter world markets and said ignoring ongoing facts would create several problems for regional states.

The minister highlighted the need to expand relations between Tehran and Ankara to compensate previous backwardness and achieve a proper prospect towards the future. "Turkish economic sector demands participation of all countries including Iran regarding its privatization affairs to reach suitable economic and trade development and growth," Coskun said.

Minister Coskun expressed his country’s readiness to expand economic, trade and tourism ties with East Azarbaijan province and hoped the volume of trade exchanges between the two countries would reach from 2.5 billion dollars to 6 billion dollars.

Sobhanollahi, for his part, voiced determination of Tabriz to cooperate with Turkey’s economic sectors.
