Turkey condemns Chechen attack

"The death of Russian Federation Chechen Republic’s President Akhmad Kadyrov in a bomb attack is saddening," a statement from the Foreign Ministry said.

Kadyrov, along with at least 13 other people, was killed when a bomb exploded in a packed stadium. The commander of Russian forces in the region was among many others injured by the bomb, apparently concealed in the stadium’s structure.

"In line with its overall approach towards terrorism, Turkey condemns all terrorist activities related to the Chechen issue, irrespective of the reason," the statement said.

"We strongly condemn the latest terrorist attack, which apparently left Kadyrov dead, and emphasize that terrorism never helps the resolution of existing problems."
