Turkey and Greece Discuss Guarantee Issues of Cyprus

U.N. Special envoy in Cyprus Alvaro de Soto visited Ankara the day the meeting was held but did not attend the meeting. Diplomatic sources stated that the sides will present their ideas about the meeting to de Soto separately.
Well placed sources said the talks were very likely to be postponed indefinitely until after further progress in U.N.-sponsored Cyprus talks.
It was also stated that discussions were based on where to deploy forces, the amount of forces, the mandate of forces, how the mandate will be performed.
Sources denied whether Turkey discussed its guarantor country rights with Cyprus. Sources stated that it is not possible for Turkey to discuss its guarantor state rights.
Greek Foreign Minister George Papandreou first proposed to discuss the U.N. Cyprus Plan’s about the security and guaranty between Turkey and Greece.
