Top US officials send troops-related messages to Ankara

"We have lots of things to work on this issue but what important is Turkey’s clear intention to shoulder some risks by a generous proposal." told Deputy US Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz in a reception, given by Turkish embassy on occasion of the 80 anniversary of Turkey’s birth as a republic. "But Iraq and other regional actors were highly sensitive to the foreign troops at present." Wolfowitz said. "What important for us is how this issue will end. We hope Turkey and Iraqi will stay as two democratic and secular neighbouring countries." Wolfowitz added.
US army chief General Richard Myers told that they had still worked on possible deployment of Turkish troops in Iraq.
