There Is Not Any Stain Like Genocide In History Of Turkish People

Parliament Speaker Arinc said that he regretted the words of Kaklamanis which were used in a meeting held in Athens to commemorate the so-called Armenian genocide that ”the recognition of the so-called Armenian genocide was the duty of Turkey which had not been exerted for the humanity.”

Arinc added, ”these words of Mr. Kaklamanis do no way serve the Turkish-Greek friendship we are trying to improve. There is not any stain like genocide in the history of Turkish people. Preservation of religions and cultures of peoples living under the rule of the Ottomans and continuation of their existence as a nation today show the tolerance and values of humanity in our history. Therefore, I won’t recommend Mr. Kaklamanis any other thing than to examine the history once more.”
