Tension still high in Baghdad after Shiite-coalition clashes

The coalition forces has surrounded the Shiite district to quell the mounting tension, triggered by US fire against Shiites who gathered at Firdevs square to protest the closure of Muqteda Al Sadr’s Al Hawza US soldiers intensified security around the district while a US helicopter was hovering over the area to provide air support.

US helicopter launched air strike on suspected Shiite targets in Baghdad’s as-Shule district during the clashes which erupted between coalition forces and Sadr’s supporters.

The choppers, backed by tanks, hit house of Hamid Bedr while he was preparing meal with the aiming of help to poor people.

“A huge explosion occurred when a missile hit a gas tube in the garden of the house.” told Hamid Bedr.
Several ambulances rushed to the scene to provide first medical care to any injured one. The bullet holes pockmarked with the clashes were still seen on the walls.
