Second Suleymaniye Incident Was Prevented

The incident took place in Altinkopru, 25 kilometres away from Kirkuk, on Saturday. A group of soldiers from the Turkish Peace Force serving in Erbil, Northern Iraq, went to the Altinkopru district on Saturday. They walked around the town, and took some pictures as souvenirs. American soldiers, coming from Erbil with helicopters and Hammer jeeps, stopped the Turkish soldiers, controlled their ID cards and took their films. However the issue was settled at the end and American troops left Altinkopru 3-4 hours later. Turkish and American officials announced that no case of detention was experienced in Altinkopru.

Eyewitnesses said that when Turkish soldiers came to the town, Kurdish policemen called American officials and said that there were armed people walking around in the town.
