Sadr Orders His Men to Leave their Weapons

Sadr wants the Mahdi Army militia to join the Shiites waiting outside the tomb. His directive was read from the tomb’s megaphone.

Thousands of supporters for the Shiite Grand Ayatollah Ali Sistani, who met with Sadr in Najaf, have gathered around the Imam Ali Tomb since yesterday.

In accordance with the agreement between Sadr and Sistani reached on August 26, to end the clashes in Najaf, Sadr’s militia must leave the tomb at 09:00 today, Turkish time.
