MIT Appoints First Female President
53-year-old faculty member, Professor Susan Hockfield of Yale, is well-known for her work in scientific engineering. Her appointment as MIT president was a surprise as the prominent university has been the subject of investigations in the past into claims of sexual discrimination at the university.
