Papandreou: Greece wants peace and stability in Iraq

Gul who came to Antalya by highway due to a failure in his plane, met with his Greek counterpart George Papandreou whenever he came to Sheraton Hotel where the meeting would be held.

No statement was issued before the meeting. The two ministers are expected to issue a joint statement after their meeting.

Upon questions of reporters while entering the hotel, Papandreou said that Greece wanted peace and stability in Iraq and that an administration in which all sections of society in Iraq would be represented had to come to power as soon as possible. Papandreou said that they wanted an independent and responsible Iraq for Iraqis. Noting that all efforts to be exerted in this framework were important, Papandreou said that Greece was aware that the decision taken by Turkey to send soldiers to Iraq was a difficult one for Turkey, adding every country gave its decision itself.
