On Air Today: Local Musicians Supporting Turkiye, Syria Earthquake Victims – Chapelboro.com

97.9 The Hill WCHL and Chapelboro.com are your headquarters for local news and local voices in Chapel Hill-Carrboro. Every weekday morning, 97.9 The Hill’s Aaron Keck chats with government officials, UNC scholars, business and nonprofit leaders, area musicians, and others in our community as they share their thoughts, their experience, and their expertise on the central issues of today. Click here to listen back to all of Aaron’s conversations – and tune in to “This Morning with Aaron Keck” at 7:30 a.m. on 97.9 The Hill to hear those conversations live.

Today, Aaron chats with local musician Lance White, who’s organizing a benefit concert this weekend at Cats Cradle to support victims of the recent earthquake in Turkiye and Syria.

It’s not the first benefit concert he’s organized: among others, he also recently put together a show to raise funds for people caught in the war in Ukraine. Saturday’s show will feature a powerhouse lineup of local musicians and bands – including Peter Holsapple and Chris Stamey (of the dB’s), John Howie Jr. and the Rosewood Bluff, the Veldt, the Johnny Folsom 4, and White’s own band, Too Much Fun.

Saturday’s show begins at 8:00 p.m. at Cats Cradle. It’s a free show, but donations (suggested $20) are strongly encouraged.
