Ninety-seven Iraqis have been killed by US troops
In Washington, US Chief of General Staff General Richard Myers said that intelligence sources had indicated the targets were believed to be ‘terrorist training camps’ with foreign volunteers. Myers stated that it was a serious assault and fighters in the camp were well trained and well equipped. Iraq had declared that thousands of Arabian volunteers had come to Iraq to resist the invasion, prior to the war, which began in March. The volunteers had offered resistance against American forces entering Baghdad.
