New banknotes of dinar introduced in Iraq

Bremer added that after October 15 Iraqis would have three months to swap existing notes for the new ones. The banknotes would be of higher quality that current notes in circulation and feature improved security mechanisms, he added, and would be available in six denominations of up to 25,000 dinars.Sources said that Iraq’s central bank would be independent from immediate effect.
