London Set To Get More Flights to Izmir, Turkey This Winter

London Stansted Airport is set to add more flights to Izmir, Turkey through a new service being introduced by SunExpress Airlines.

It is understood the airline, which is a joint venture between Lufthansa & Turkish Airlines, will launch a thrice-weekly service over the Winter, with it increasing to five weekly by the Summer.

Without further ado, let’s get into it…

From London Stansted itself, there are over 70 weekly flights into Turkey, which include the following destinations:

  • Antalya
  • Ankara
  • Bodrum
  • Dalaman
  • Izmir
  • Istanbul

Commenting on the addition of the Izmir flights over the Winter was Simon Gorrighan, London Stansted Airport’s Aviation Director:

“The Turkish market is already one of London Stansted’s most popular destinations, with more than 70 weekly flights to the region.”

“With the new SunExpress services starting to Izmir and Antalya, Adana and Gaziantep from next summer, passengers from London and the East of England will have even more options to explore this wonderful country.”

Demand for winter travel as a whole has been very strong from the UK, with many wanting to go abroad for warmer climates.

Overall, London Stansted Airport is positioned well to handle more passengers going into the Winter season, a period that is typically quieter.

However, in the wake of post-COVID demand, many airlines continue to plan ahead, with services to Izmir with SunExpress being an example of that.

All eyes on how the airport’s Winter will go for them.
