Iran’s Latest Wins

Iran is taking major steps toward ending years of isolation with regional and global powers.

Over the weekend, Saudi Arabia — long an arch foe of Iran — said it would reopen an embassy in Tehran soon, as the two sides look to boost security and trade ties.

Iran is also getting closer to striking an informal agreement with the US, which could see some of the Islamic Republic’s sanctioned funds being unfrozen in return for the release of American prisoners. The latter marks the best sign of progress between the two rivals in several months, and underscores the White House’s desire to reduce tensions and limit Iran’s enrichment of uranium.
