Historical Agreement in Aegean Sea

According to the International Civil Aviation Organization of U.N., the agreement "Increases aviation capacity and improves the level of security in the region."
The agreement which was dubbed as "Historical" by the organization will be effective on December 25.

Turkey and Greece have disputes over the Aegean on such issues as FIR Line and Continental Shelf. At the Helsinki summit of EU in December 1999, Turkey had agreed to apply to the High Justice Court in the Hague, in case the two countries failed to settle their problems over the Aegean by the end of 2004.
The current government is also carrying out contacts with Greece, to solve these problems.
