Gul doesn’t give quarantee to Powell on troop issue
NEW YORK (AA) – Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul who is currently in Iraq met with his US counterpart Colin L. Powell and he told Powell that a multinational forces that the UN ordered could make Turkey and other allies’ work easier in Iraq to deploy troops in this country.
After the meeting, Gul said that the discussion was very usefull and both foreign ministers reviewed all issues.
Diplomatic sources also stated that the US had been continuing its expectation regarding Turkey’s sending troops to Iraq and they expressed their pleasure in the event of Turkey’s soldier contribution to the region.
Meanwhile, the same sources stressed that Gul thanked to Powell for his attempts to provide $8,5 loan to Turkey.
