Greek Cypriots postponed today’s talk

Returning from the meeting side in ten minutes, Denktas said that the Greek Cypriot leader who claimed that the changes he asked was beyond the Annan Plan and therefore the talks will be held Thursday.

Denktas said that "For example, the text mentions "24 people from each founder state will be at the Senate. But since Greek Cypriots will have the right to vote and voted for , in our state, this issue needs clarifiation. We want to have Turkish and Greek Cypriot specified in the text because two separate peoples exist in Cyprus. We do not want this fact to be shadowed. "

Denktas added that some percentages specified in the Annan Plan must be lowered because "If these remain as they are, the Turkish side will cease to be the founder state of Turks and that will be dangerous."

"They tell us that this is a new birth and we can quarrel on the terms later on. However we want to join a quarrel-free enterprise. We want something fitting the realities, " he said.

EU HAS NO PLACE AT THE TABLE
On his way to the talks earlier, Denktas said that his delegation raised opposition to the presence of EU experts in the U.N. delegation, during the talks. "EU has no place in the negotiating table. Their function is technical. There are two sides at the table; Turks and Greeks," he said.
