FM Gul sends congratulatory messages to Papandreou

ANKARA (AA) – Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul sent congratulatory messages to Tasos Giannitsis, who was appointed as the new foreign minister of Greece, and to George Papandreou who was elected as the new leader of Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) on Friday.

In his message to Giannitsis, Gul said, "on the occasion of your appointment as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes for your continued success. I also would like to underline my desire to work closely with you in further developing the current process of dialogue and co-operation between Turkey and Greece."

Gul extended his warmest congratulations, and his best wishes for continued health, happiness and success of Papandreou who was elected as the new leader of PASOK.

"May I also take this opportunity to express my appreciation for your substantial contributions during your tenure as the Minister of Foreign Affairs to the enhancement of Turkish-Greek relations. Definitely, your vision, personal interests and active involvement in the process have enabled the relations between our two countries to reach such a satisfactory level. I have no doubt that your efforts to this end will continue in the future," he added.
