Erdogan: Turkish And Greek Cypriots Should Not Discuss Annan Plan With Pre-judgements

Noting that they asked Annan the difference between Swiss and Belgian models when he explained only Swiss model. He said that Annan told his views on the issue and they explained Turkey’s determined attitude concerning Cyprus question until now to Annan.
Erdogan said that they told Annan that Turkey’s attitude on Cyprus question was a partnership state depending on two equal, sovereign founder states. He added that they also told Annan, concerning Cyprus Plan, that Turkey’s view was a new Cyprus or a partnership state depending on two founder peoples. He said that there was not too much problem concerning the map issue, but there was a difficulty in the lines and the U.N. presented a ‘B’ map for it.
Noting that they discussed the ‘B’ map and they told Annan that ‘B’ map was inappropriate, Erdogan said that according to ‘B’ map, they proposed Karpaz region for south. He added that a total of nine different maps were presented in Copenhagen and Annan’s Special Envoy to Cyprus Alvaro De Soto arrived in Istanbul with 16 maps which meant that if the issue was negotiated, different alternatives could be presented.
Erdogan said that the important thing was to find the issue negotiable, adding that while sitting at negotiation table, Turkish and Greek Cypriots should not have prejudgements. He said that if sides sit at the negotiation table for solution, the issue would be solved. He added that they considered the plan negotiable and were in favor of solution.
