Emergency Social Safety Net (ESSN) Monthly Report (April 2023)

Two earthquakes that struck Gaziantep and Kahramanmaraş on 6th of February left 2 million people displaced and around 50 thousand lifeless. While successfully implementing the ongoing cash based assistance programmes, IFRC-TRC put all its effort into earthquake response actions to help victims recover. April earthquake top-ups were made for ESSN and C-ESSN households while quarterly top-ups for ESSN households on February. Moreover, as a part of EQ response efforts a new project, Collective Kindness, has emerged to provide assistance to vulnerable households directly affected.

Cumulatively over 4,000 Turkish Red Crescent staff and about 150,000 volunteers worked in the field during the first months following EQ, of which some are still out on the field. For more information, please refer to the report.
