Denktas: President represents the people
Speaking to media, Denktas said he could not understand why CTP leader Mehmet Ali Talat accused him of declaring war against the people, claiming that Talat himself did not represent the people, but the state and the president, who has been chosen by the people, did.
He declared that UN Secretary General Annan’s plan not only eliminates the state of TRNC, but also severs all ties with Turkey.
He also said that membership to European Union was not everything, adding that customs agreement with Turkey would not affect the day to day workings of trade between the countries to a great extent.
