Bollywood star Malaika Arora took to the Instagram handle to upload some sizzling pictures and videos of her trip to Turkey to the glee of her legion of fans. The actress is simply drop-dead gorgeous in a red kaftan dress in the snaps. Many people, including Bollywood celebrities, heaped praise on Malaika for the posts on social media.

These memorable moments were captured at the alluring Cappadocia, a popular tourist center in Turkey. Cappadocia, which is known as the ‘land of beautiful horses’, attracts travellers from around the world and is 300km away from Istanbul, a major city in Turkey. It is noteworthy that this tourist destination stands out due to its historical, geographical and cultural importance.

Unique experience

The main attraction of Cappadocia is its volcanic peaks. The rock formations have a peculiar form, giving the notion that you are in another planet. The restaurants and shopping malls that had been built after scooping out mud from these mountain ranges are a treat for the eyes. Moreover, the cave churches, which have been carved out of rocks, provide a unique experience to the visitors.

The major tourist towns in Cappadocia are Nevsehir, Kayseri, Aksaray and Nigde. The backpackers can have a grand stay in buildings carved out of caves in places such as Urgup, Goreme, Guzelyurt and Ushisar. These buildings don’t need air conditioners as the caves always maintain a cool temperature.

The subterranean cities such as Derinkuyu, Kaymakli, Gaziemir and Ozkonak always create great excitement among travellers.

Hot air balloon ride

Hot air ballooning is very popular in Cappadocia and Goreme is the most sought-after destination to fly high in a hot air balloon. Goreme is a place that had been sculpted by thousands of years of erosion and one could find an extraordinary landscape dotted with minaret-like or pillar-like formations. And these pinnacles are famously known as ‘fairy chimneys’. One can also go on a trekking spree at Ihlara Valley, Monastery Valley (Guzelyurt), Urgup and Goreme.

The other well-liked tourist spots are the iconic ‘Three Sister Rock’ panoramic point, Red Valley, Rose Valley, Ihlara Valley and Pigeon Valley. The tourists can indulge in hiking, mountain biking and horse riding and also go on historical and cultural tours while spending quality time in Cappadocia.
