The magazine Geostratigika, citing defense experts, has stated that the Pinaka rocket system could be an excellent deal for Greece.

New Delhi: Turkey has offered the KAAN fifth-generation fighter jet to Pakistan and is also striking arms deals with Bangladesh. However, the Modi government is now set to respond to Turkey on its own terms. According to reports, Greece, Turkey’s biggest adversary, has shown keen interest in acquiring India’s powerful Pinaka rocket system. Greek defense experts are actively advocating for their government to procure the Indian Pinaka rocket system.
They argue that if Greece acquires the Pinaka LRM (Long-Range Multi-Barrel Rocket System) from India, it will have significant geopolitical implications. The magazine Geostratigika, citing defense experts, has stated that the Pinaka rocket system could be an excellent deal for Greece. It is important to note that the Pinaka rocket system has been developed by India.
All You Need To Know About Pinaka LRM:

- It is a Multiple-Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and comes in several variants
- Pinaka Mk-I (40 km range), Pinaka Mk-I (60 km), Pinaka ER (90 km), and Pinaka LR (120 km).
- A complete Pinaka MBRL system includes six launcher vehicles each with 12 rockets, six loader-replenishment vehicles, six replenishment vehicles, two Command Post vehicles (one on standby) with a Fire Control computer, and a DIGICORA MET radar, which provides data on winds.

- The system is mounted on a Tatra truck for mobility.
- The Pinaka MBRL is stated to be cheaper than other systems, costing ₹2.3 crore (US$270,000) per system, compared to the M270, which costs ₹19.5 crore (US$2.3 million).
- The launcher can operate in autonomous, stand-alone, remote, and manual modes.
Experts have stated that if Greece acquires the Pinaka rocket system from India, it will enhance its military’s capability to launch deep and large-scale attacks against enemy forces, whether in conflict with Turkey or along the land border with the Aegean islands.
Will Greece Purchase the Pinaka Rocket System?
Experts suggest that apart from the American HIMARS, Greece has an excellent option in the form of the Pinaka long-range rocket system. Pinaka could provide Greece with a highly effective and cost-efficient alternative for targeting enemy positions.
Additionally, New Delhi may agree to joint production of the Pinaka rocket system with Greek companies such as EAS or INTRACOM Defense. India and Greece share strong diplomatic ties and have a history of military cooperation. Therefore, if Greece pursues a deal with India for the Pinaka rocket system, it could be easily achieved.
