Abramowitz: Bush Needs a Strategy For Iraq

In an article for Time magazine, Abromowitz said that it is too early to announce that the U.S. has failed in Iraq, but said the common perception is that the U.S. does not know what it is doing in Iraq and that the support of Iraqis has been lost.

Meanwhile, retired American General, Barry McCaffrey, wrote in another article in Time, "There are no American soldiers left to send to Iraq." They would need to reinforce the U.S. army with at least 80,000 troops, added the retired General.

McCaffrey disclosed that 70 % of U.S. combat forces are in Afghanistan, Iraq and South Korea and asked, "Can you maintain this much muscle power in so many places? The answer to this is no."

The General suggested that the 9th National Guardsmen Brigade needs to be activated in the upcoming 18 months for reinforcement.
