Unfortunate We Entered Customs Union Before EU
Coskun said: “Turkey’s misfortune is to have joined the Customs Union before taking its place in any E.U. decision-making bodies. We are not in any of the decision-making bodies of the E.U., but we obey the decisions they make. This has cost Turkey $62 billion in foreign trade over six years. But it has been useful in making our industries more competitive before joining the E.U.”.
Stating Turkey should be the first candidate country to be admitted to the E.U., the Industry and Trade Minister added, “Each effort has its cost. Turkey paid this price and is now of world-class quality”.
