What does the West wants in Cyprus?

Especially, 19th century was lived in a siege of manipulation and struggle for sharing that the British policy leaded. The time was the time of colonizing, direct or indirect… This process caused the Cyprus Island to be given to Britain in 1915. Following it, the period was reached when Greek Cypriots rebelled against Britain and we took our place near Britain in a minority psychology. When we return to back, the historians say that that process was occurred due to British manipulation: All ideas and thesis that we assumed that they belong to us, had been produced by Britain and they had been inculcated in us…

This past causes a kind of lack of confidence against the West on the Cyprus issue. Instead of questioning why we have tendency to be with powerful figures and why we have lack of self-confidence, we have a strange approach feeling "deceived".

But, today even if we have lack of confidence against the US, the European Union (EU), United Nations (UN) and UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, they have sincere approaches on the issue: The West, this time, wants to solve the issue in a fair and lasting way. The last revised form of Annan plan is the sample of it: There is almost nothing that the Turkish side would like take.

Unfortunately, our psychological resistance is continuing. Even those who work as "international relations scholar" cannot be impartial.
