    • WFP and the Governorate of Antakya in Hatay are planning to provide multi-purpose cash assistance to Hilalkent camp established after last years’ earthquake, housing around 8,000 Syrian refugees.
  • WFP signed a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Industry and Technology as an umbrella agreement for upcoming collaborations with national development agencies affiliated with the Ministry under the Earthquake Recovery Programme. As such, WFP held meetings with Ipekyolu and Firat development agencies to discuss collaboration opportunities for Adiyaman and Malatya.
    • WFP endorsed the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) of all five cooperating partners for beneficiary selection. WFP is expecting the beneficiary lists and baseline studies to be finalized by:
      -The International Migration and Solidarity Association (UGDD) for the allocation of agricultural land for small farmers project in Adiyaman;
      -The Association of Assistance and Solidarity and Support with Refugees and Asylum Seekers (YSYD) for the support to smallholder livestock farmers project in Kahramanmaras; and
      -The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) for the first phase of the cash-for-work project in Hatay.
  • WFP also engaged extensively with the private sector, meeting with LandoLakes, Lactalis, and Merck & Co., Inc. (MSD) to partner for the restoration of the dairy value chain project in Kahramanmaras. Additionally, a comprehensive concept note was developed and submitted to Novo Nordisk to replicate this project in Adiyaman in collaboration with the Ipekyolu Development Agency.
