‘We Cannot Deny Turkey’s E.U. Efforts`

With a reminder that the E.U. now has 25 members with the inclusion of 10 new members, Kretchmer indicated that May 9th has a different importance in this year in a speech given at a Hilton reception for Europe Day on May 9th.

Kretchmer pointed out that the E.U. already has 450 million citizens and a one fourth share of world trade and noted that beyond the numbers, it is necessary to consider the unique qualifications of the institution and structure of the E.U.

Kretchmer said E.U. member countries share their sovereignty rights in the institutions of the Organization and emphasized that they work toward political unity in addition to economic and financial unity.

Kretchmer said, "The E.U. is the most successful project in history in the name of peace, stability and welfare."
