WB lists Turkey 20th largest economy

Experts expect Turkey to ascend to 17 or 18 in 2003 after strong growth in the last two years. For 2001, the World Bank previously listed Turkish economy as the 18th largest in September 2002 and 17th largest in April 2003. But later the WB revised its statistics and listed Turkey as the 20th largest one.

The first 24 countries with regards to their gross national products calculated on the adjusted purchasing power in 2001 are US, China, Japan, India, Germany, UK, France, Italy, Brazil, Russia, Canada, Mexico, Spain, S. Korea, Indonesia, Australia, S. Africa, the Netherlands, Argentina, Turkey, Iran, Thailand, Poland and the Philippines.
