Watford reject N865m Turkish club bid for Super Eagles star – Soccernet NG

Waford have rejected an offer from Turkey for Nigerian defender despite his limited playing time

The Hornets have knocked back a loan offer from Trabzonspor for William Troost-Ekong.

The Black Sea Storm enquired about the former Udinese defender with a loan offer with an option to buy for £1.7m.

That fee was deemed too small by Watford for the Super Eagles vice-captain who has had playing time hard to come by in the last six months.

Ekong played 16 times in the first half of last season but was condemned to the bench when he came back featuring mostly as an unused substitute and when used, in bit part roles.

The new season has continued like the last for him as he has only featured for a few minutes in the opening games of the season.

According to TheAthletic, Watford are expecting more from Trabzonspor as they value Ekong better than what has been offered.

Ekong’s contract at Vicarage Road is expected to end in 2025 but he’s expected to be sold for the right offer.

The Nigerian defender has only featured in 19 minutes of football since he returned from the African Cup of Nations in January.
