US Withdraws Sanction Threat from Sudan Resolution

Russia, Pakistan and China objected to the wording of the resolution, forcing the US to rework the resolution for the fourth time since a week ago Thursday (July 22).

The US had hoped to threaten Sudan with economic sanctions if the Khartoum government failed to disarm the Arab militias in the region of Darfur.
