"US supports Cyprus negotiation process"

WASHINGTON (AA) – US State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher said today that the US supported the Cyprus negotiation process at the highest level and they would play a supportive role.

Boucher stated that the US would play a supportive and positive role for UN Secretary General Kofi Annan’s initiative.

He reiterated that the US was not a part of the negotiation process but they would continue all diplomatic support to the process to help reaching a successful result.

Boucher added that the US State Department was in close cooperation with Turkish, Greek Cypriot and Greek leaders.
