US Senator Wexler: Denktas’ Concerns Legitimate

Arguing that the US should make every effort to mediate between the two parties, Wexler said, “Recently, Denktas offered some proposals. These needed to be given serious consideration. I listened to Denktas’ concerns about the UN plan. These are legitimate concerns. These need to be considered and addressed.”

Elsewhere, US State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said that he supports Denktas’ proposal to clear the landmines between Greek and Turkish Cyprus. Denktas recently proposed this in a letter to the UN and the Greek Cypriot administration, and received positive responses.
